No Gold
There's a very good detailed account in the NYT of the history of unAmerican legal opinions supporting the anti-American practice of torture by pretend Americans on behalf of the ruling Junta. Hideous ogre-souled Junta legal trolls don't ever hesitate from causing others to be harmed because they know that it will never happen to them.
In every respect, a person observing the "Golden Rule" would do the opposite of what they do. They go through their shallow existences knowing that the armour of power, wealth, and elitism will protect them from all harm.
They will never go broke and need assistance for themselves or their families. They will never know anyone in those circumstances.
They will never be captured by an enemy. They will never be tortured by a captor. They don't serve in the armed forces, and nobody in their extended families will serve in the military.
If someone in their circle needs an abortion, they can fly to Geneva. If they need a 'morning after pill,' they can easily get one through their private medical care. There's no harm to them in opposing reproductive rights.
Lavish government spending on defense and useless earmarks only enriches them. Environmental devastation has no impact on their excessive vacations and limited experience with the world around them. Maui's still pretty. So's Club Med.
This is a spoiled bunch who live only to despoil. If they'd ever had any cause to have others do unto them a fraction of what they dish out, they might think twice. But thinking once seems to be too hard for them, so they pass on thinking entirely.
I really do hope that one day scumbags like John Yoo get tortured in exactly the same way that they called for others to be tortured. I hope they have to beg for food and forgo medical care as they've caused others to.
